Dorrance Scholarship Summer Bridge Program:
Recipients complete the DSP Summer Bridge Program at their chosen university prior to freshmen year. This five-week program is an introduction to learning processes, campus resources, and academic expectations that assist recipients in becoming successful Dorrance Scholars and university students.
Dorrance Scholarship Humanities Program:
In addition to professional knowledge and skills, a college-educated person should be able to write and speak clearly and persuasively, analyze data effectively, and work in diverse groups in an increasingly interdependent (global) world. These characteristics are nurtured in the Humanities. The summer after freshmen year, scholars are immersed in the Humanities and prepare for the academic and logistical challenges of global travel.
Dorrance Scholarship Study Abroad Program:
The semester long experience builds on the skills and knowledge gained through the Summer Bridge and Humanities Programs to further scholars’ personal and academic development. The courses offer scholars opportunities to analyze cultural artifacts and foster an appreciation for some of the great western artistic works and sites in Europe, tracing their influence to the United States.
